Nuremberg to host 2022 Teqball World Championships
FITEQ is delighted to announce that the German city of Nuremberg will welcome the world’s best teqers for the 2022 Teqball World Championships.
The event will be held from 23-27 November 2022 and marks the first time Germany has hosted the most prestigious competition in teqball. As in 2021, there will be five event categories: men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.
The World Championships will be held at the state-of-the-art Kia Metropol Arena, which is one of Germany’s leading indoor multipurpose venues. Athletes and fans can expect a festival atmosphere, with competitors battling it out for the chance to be crowned world champion.
Teqball Co-Founders Gábor Borsányi (FITEQ President), Viktor Huszár (FITEQ Chairman), and György Gattyán (FITEQ Vice President), as well as FITEQ General Secretary Marius Vizer Jr, said: “We are thrilled to announce Nuremberg as the host of this year’s World Championships, which as always will be the pinnacle of our sporting calendar. The facilities are outstanding and the passion for teqball in Germany will create an electric atmosphere throughout the week. We wish all athletes the best of luck in the qualifying events in the coming weeks and we look forward to seeing you in Nuremberg!”
Athletes will qualify via national qualifier events over the coming weeks, before the announcement of one representative per country in singles events, and up to three (including a reserve) representatives in doubles events. Full details of the qualification pathway can be found here.
FITEQ will re-arrange the scheduled European Teqball Tour in Nuremberg, which was slated as a qualifier for the European Games 2023. Revised dates and a new location will be announced shortly.
