Ramadan Night Teqball Championship brings communities together through sport

The Pakistan Teqball Federation organised the Ramdan Night Teqball Championship 2022

The holy month of Ramadan was observed around the world throughout April, with Muslims fasting from dawn until sunset every day to teach themselves and those around them self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice and empathy for those who are less fortunate.

Despite the physical and mental challenge of fasting for an extended period of time, elite athletes continued to compete in a variety of sports and deliver consistently high-level performances. These athletes acted as role models for Muslims all over the world, giving them strength and inspiration.

Sport also helped bring communities together during the holy month, with late night sporting events allowing Muslims to be active after breaking their fast in the evening. In Pakistan, this took the form of the Ramdan Night Teqball Championship 2022, which was organised by the Pakistan Teqball Federation, the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Absar Welfare Foundation (a non-profit organisation focused on using sport to support women empowerment, and disability and youth welfare).

The event ran every evening from 26-28 April at the National Teqball Academy in the Qayyum Stadium in Peshawar. During the final day of the event on 28 April, Chairman of the Absar Wefare Foundation Rahat Mian, and Pakistan Teqball Federation President Mian Absar Ali were amongst those to hand out trophies, medals, and prizes to winners.

During a special time of year for Muslims, teqball helped bring a new sporting dynamic to a community-focused time and FITEQ sends its congratulations to all involved in this excellent initiative.
