FITEQ targets long-term legacy in Peru as part of Bolivarian Games inclusion
FITEQ has started the implementation of legacy programmes in Ayacucho, Peru, as part of teqball’s inclusion as a medal sport in the Bolivarian Games 2024.
In December 2021, the Bolivarian Sports Organization (OBEDO) confirmed that teqball will be a medal sport at the 20th edition of the Bolivarian Games.
The historic event, which dates back to 1938, will be held in the Peruvian city of Ayacucho in 2024. Earlier this month, FITEQ donated Teq tables to two schools in the region, and held train-the-trainer programmes that involved FITEQ sport instructors leading sessions for athletes and coaches.
The tables were donated by FITEQ in collaboration the Peruvian Teqball Federation and Gerardo Duran, the Deputy Director of Youth, Education and Sport of the Municipality of Ayacucho. The recipients of the tables were two schools: Colegio Emblematico Mariscal Caceres and Institucion Educativa San Ramon, both based in Ayacucho.
FITEQ will continue to implement legacy programmes across Peru to build awareness and increase participation in the build to and after the Games in 2024.
