International stars travel to Naples as draw announced for the European Teqball Tour
The draw for the highly anticipated Naples leg of the European Teqball Tour 2022 has been announced, with many of the world’s best players in action this weekend on 24-26 June. Matches will take place across men’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, as well as mixed doubles in what promises to be an exciting three days of competition on the Italian coast.
There will be plenty of Italian representation at the event, with the home support sure to be electric as the Italians seek wins over representatives from leading teqball countries such as Hungary, Romania, France, and Brazil.
The all-Italian teams are Pasquale Errico and Fulvio Gallo in the men’s doubles, Vincenzo Streppone and Mara D’alessandro in the mixed doubles, whilst Arovetto Lombardi will compete in the men’s singles.
The men’s doubles group stage will kick things off on Friday morning, with world number 1 and 2 Nikola Mitro and Bogdan Marojevic, facing off against a stellar line up including two semi-finalist pairings from last month’s Teqball Tour stop in Romania: Balazs Katz and Balazs Krisztian Velkey, and the always-competitive Frenchmen Julien Grondin and Hugo Rabeux.
The women’s doubles groups will also begin on Friday morning, with the American world number 1 and 2, Carolyn Greco and Margaret Osmundson, marginal favourites in a very strong line-up of highly ranked teams including Zsanett Janicsek and Lea Vasas, whom they lost to in the final of the USA Teqball Tour Miami earlier this month.
The mixed doubles group stage commences on Saturday 25 June, where Csaba Banyik and Zsanett Janicsek will look to repeat their victory from last month at the European Teqball Tour Tirgu Mures.
The men’s singles competition begins on Saturday and is a real clash of the titans, featuring eight of the top ten world ranked men’s singles players including all of the top four: Adam Blazsovics, Apor Gyorgydeak, Julien Grondin, and Csaba Banyik.
All categories will involve a group stage and knockout rounds, with finals being played on Sunday 26 June. With so much talent on display, this is an event that cannot be missed!
