FITEQ referees undergo VAR training camp in Budapest
A two-day video assistant referee (VAR) training session took place at Teqball HQ in Budapest on 27-28 September, with 18 of the world’s top teqball referees invited to attend by FITEQ ahead of the European Teqball Tour later in the week.
The participants underwent theoretical training as they discussed their previous experience with VAR, and by the end of the course, all the referees were confident with the technology.
VAR was first trialled by FITEQ in a test event in Naples in June before being used at the World Series event in Krakow (14 – 17 September). Following last week’s VAR training, the teqball referees felt ready to use it effectively during the finals of the Budapest European Teqball Tour on October 2.
As the governing body for the world’s fastest growing sport, FITEQ is always looking for ways to ensure teqball stays at the cutting edge of sport, and this includes adopting the latest technology.
