FITEQ announces second qualifying event for European Games 2023
The International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) today announced that the second qualifying event for the European Games 2023, will be in Skopje, North Macedonia between 26-29 January 2023.
This follows FITEQ’s decision to postpone the second qualifier, which was due to be held at the Kia Metropol Arena in Nuremberg, Germany, after deciding the venue would be better suited to the 5th Teqball World Championships instead.
Following the postponement, FITEQ searched for a worthy European alternative and chose the Sport Hall SC Jane Sandanski in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
Postponing the qualifier to January now affords European athletes more time to train for the competition, while providing more National Federations with the opportunity to join the qualifying phase. Competition for a spot at Teqball’s debut at the European Games, the continent’s premier multi-sport event, will be fierce.
The qualification categories will be the same as the first qualification event, namely the men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
The prize money for this event will be 30,000 USD.
The first qualification event for the European Games 2023 was held during the European Teqball Tour in Budapest between 29 September and 2 October 2022.
