Countries embrace FITEQ’s Back2Teq vision
Countries all around the world are embracing FITEQ’s Back2Teq vision of using the world’s fastest growing sport to support communities in the COVID-19 recovery phase.
Czech Republic, Ghana, Indonesia and Eswatini are amongst the countries that have organised TEQBALL-related activities to encourage people to stay active in recent weeks. The social distancing sport is perfect for helping athletes in these countries, and many more around the world, practice sport in a safe environment.
An exciting TEQBALL All-Star exhibition concept in Prague, featuring star footballers Tomas Necid and Vaclav Kadlec, attracted national media interest. A captivated audience watched the highly professional event, which helped continue the momentum that has been building in Czech Republic in recent years.
In Eswatini, the National TEQBALL Federation has developed a comprehensive phased approach for the return of the sport in collaboration with the government. A series of TEQBALL sessions for the public are being organised, supported by FITEQ’s Club Development Programme. The intention is to bring TEQBALL to people all over the country as it emerges from lockdown.
In Ghana, a similar framework has been outlined and the TEQBALLFederation of Ghana has structures in place to install 60 Teq tables across the country. In addition to this, community programmes and tournaments are being organised to provide opportunities for teqers in Ghana to enjoy competitive TEQBALL action.
TEQBALL’s inclusion in the Asian Beach Games as a medal sport, and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games as a demonstration sport, is the key focus in Indonesia, as the country continues to provide a platform for athletes to prepare for these major events. The National Federation is building on the success of a FITEQ Education Programme held in Jakarta in November 2019 to bring the sport to more people across the country.
FITEQ is delighted at the innovation shown by the National TEQBALL Federations during this challenging time and looks forward to collaborating with more countries to spread the Back2Teq vision across all five continents.
