FITEQ has regrettably taken the decision to postpone the 2020 Teqball World Championships due to the ongoing uncertainty and restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Challenger Series will continue to serve as the pathway for athletes to earn qualification points for the next Teqball World Championships, whilst also acting as a way to earn World Ranking points and prize money during the ongoing challenging times. The window for National Challenger Series events to serve as an opportunity to gain World Championship qualification points will be extended until the end of January 2021 as a minimum, with FITEQ continuing to assess the situation and updating the teqball family on any further changes in due course.

FITEQ General Secretary Marius Vizer Jr said, “The current situation with COVID-19 has unfortunately left FITEQ with no option but to postpone this year’s World Championships. We have been monitoring the global status of the pandemic very closely in recent months in the hope that we would be able to host our flagship event. However, we must continue to make the safety of our athletes, their teams and the general public our number one priority and it is clear that organising an event with over 75 countries competing is not a viable option in this calendar year. We understand the disappointment this will cause but we can assure National Federations, athletes, coaches and fans that they have FITEQ’s unwavering support during these difficult times and that we will return with the best-ever Teqball World Championships in 2021.”
