With 168 matches starts the Teqball World Championships 2023

The Teqball World Championships 2023 kicks off on Wednesday with a boatload of exciting matches, including all the group stages in the singles and the women’s doubles.

The record number of participants and countries (211 and 61, respectively) results in a record number of matches, and Day 1 of the World Teqball Championships 2023 will bring no less than 168 clashes!

The program starts with the most crowded tournament, the men’s singles, where we have 55 teqers. Out of them, the top 8 players (Brian Mengel Thomsen from Denmark, Adrian Duszak from Poland, Adam Blazsovics from Hungary, title holder Apor Gyorgydeak from Romania, Bogdan Marojevic from Serbia, Hugo Rabeux from France, Ziad Eidan from Kuwait and Yassine Sahli from Tunisia) are going to enjoy the first phase from “outside” as they were awarded a bye for the group stage, but will join the competition in the first Knockout Round. The rest of the field was drawn to 11 groups, with Group A having 3 players and Group B-L having 4. The top 2 of each quartet will advance to the Round of 32, and some of them will face the joining top-seeded aces.

The morning session (9:00 AM - 1:30 PM local time) will be all about the men’s singles, and the gentlemen will continue after the break with their first elimination games. The preview of this category can be found here.

Then the ladies will take the stage and their single’s tournament begins. The 38 contestants were drawn into 12 groups (Group A - Group J with 3 players, Group K - Group L with 4), and the top two from each will move on to the Round of 32. There, the winners of Group A-H will get byes for that and rejoin the competition in the Round of 16. More about their clashes.

The women’s doubles will also start on Wednesday, right after the second break and the first elimination round of the singles. The 27 teams are separated into 8 groups (Group A-E with 3, Group F-H with 4 units), and there will be no byes, also the top 2 will proceed to the Round of 16.

The opening day will guarantee 12 hours of amazing Teqball with exciting matches and spectacular moves. The matchups of Table 1 and 2 will be streamed on YouTube on the TeqTV channel, catch the action live there!
