With the 250th international event of the Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ) set to unfold in Madrid this May, excitement is mounting among fans and players. This anticipation comes with the introduction of a groundbreaking feature: the Best Athletes of the Event Award. This innovative initiative is geared towards celebrating and honouring the remarkable performances of both male and female athletes, thereby enhancing the thrill and prestige of the competition.

Teqball, in the project's 10th year, implements a new feature: the Best Athletes of the Event award. It will be bestowed upon the most exceptional players after the culmination of the final matches, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event's climax. What sets this award apart is the unique selection method, which involves three distinct client groups, each contributing a percentage to the final decision.

Firstly, 25% of the decision will be based on the votes of fans and followers on the FITEQ website, fiteq.org/vote. This democratic approach allows everyone to have a say in recognizing the standout performers of the tournament, engaging the global teqball community in the celebration of excellence. Everybody will be able to vote digitally for one's favourite. 

"Many of our beloved sport's athletes have been with us since the birth of Teqball. They are the pioneers and work continuously very hard to evolve the sport. With this award, FITEQ would like to appreciate and recognize all the effort our athletes put into the game." says Bela Muller, Head of Communications.

The category's winner Hungarian duo against the Ukrainian pair in Kraków at the European Games which was also FITEQ's very first European championships.

Another 25% of the decision will be in the hands of the broadcast team, who will closely observe the matches and appreciate the spectacular rallies, moments of brilliance, and sheer athleticism displayed by the players throughout the event. Their expertise and insight will provide valuable perspective in identifying the most deserving recipients of the award.

Finally, the remaining 50% of the decision-making process will rest with FITEQ's Competition Department, comprising experts and officials who have a deep understanding of the sport and its intricacies. They will assess factors such as surprising results, overachieving performances, and compelling sporting stories that unfold during the event, ensuring that the award reflects not only skill but also resilience, determination, and sportsmanship.

The culmination of this collaborative effort will be the presentation of the Best Athletes of the Event award in the world feed of the broadcast, reaching audiences around the globe and honouring the achievements of the deserving recipients. By introducing this award, FITEQ aims to inspire players to continually evolve and push the boundaries of their abilities, recognizing and appreciating their tireless efforts and dedication to the sport. 

Both female and male players will be named as the Best Athletes of the Event. Besides the title, the players will be rewarded with a trophy which holds the memory of their great performance at the event and 150$ each.

Throughout the event, followers on television and social media will be reminded multiple times about the Best Athletes of the Event award, building excitement from the very first day and culminating with the announcement after the first set of the last final. This ongoing engagement ensures that fans remain invested in the competition and eagerly anticipate the unveiling of the deserving winners.
