Bar hosted the 2nd ATL tournament
In a vibrant celebration of Teqball, the coastal town of Bar hosted the 2nd Adriatic Teqball League tournament on July 20. Organized in collaboration with the Municipality and Tourism Organization of Bar and the Sports and Recreation Center Topolica, the event attracted top Teqball talent from the region and beyond, creating a dynamic atmosphere brimming with competitive spirit and athletic prowess.
The tournament featured two main categories: Men’s Doubles, with 16 participating teams, and Men’s Singles, showcasing 22 athletes. Among the competitors was the 15-year-old Polish prodigy Stefan Orlowski with other of his countrymen, whose presence added an extra layer of excitement to the event.
In the Men’s Doubles category, the competition was fierce, culminating in a thrilling final between team Liman and team Polska. Liman, represented by the formidable duo of Nikola Mitro and Bogdan Marojević, emerged victorious without any single loss set. Mitro and Marojević, three-time world champions, demonstrated their exceptional skill and seamless teamwork, outplaying the young talent of Stefan Orlowski and his partner Konrad Nowicki. Local pride was also evident with the team Teq Buducnost, featuring national team player Marko Zarkovic, showcasing an impressive performance as the best local double lost only in the semi-final in three sets against the Polish twosome.
The Men’s Singles category was equally captivating. Nikola Mitro once again proved his dominance in the sport, securing first place after an intense match against the promising Stefan Orlowski in the final. Orlowski’s journey to the final was marked by resilience and talent, signalling a bright future for the young athlete. Marko Zarkovic also made a commendable run, reaching the semi-finals but eventually falling to the unstoppable Mitro.
With these triumphs, Mitro and team Liman won back-to-back after the success at the first Adriatic Teqball League rendez-vous in Ohrid.
This tournament was not just a display of competitive Teqball; it was a celebration of the sport's growth and the community’s support. The Municipality and Tourism Organization of Bar, along with the Sports and Recreation Center Topolica, did an exemplary job in organizing the event, ensuring that athletes and spectators alike enjoyed a seamless and engaging experience.
