Katz dominated in both categories at Lithuanian Teqball Open - 2nd stage

World and European champion Balazs Katz was unstoppable in Vilnius at the 2nd stage of the Lithuanian Teqball Open.

After the successful Lithuanian Teqball Open - 1st stage in May with one category, the organizers presented the 2nd stage. This time, with two categories: men's singles & doubles.

The Lithuanian Teqball Open - 2nd stage took place on August 24th in Vilnius, gathering 25 players in singles and 11 pairs from six countries: Ukraine, Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Romania. The event featured two categories: men’s singles & doubles.

In the men’s singles category, the spotlight was on Hungarian player Balazs Katz, who emerged victorious after a fierce battle against Poland's rising star Marek Pokwap. The final match was a nail-biting affair, with Katz ultimately winning 2:1, securing his first singles title ever at the Lithuanian Teqball Open - 2nd stage. The bronze medal match was no less thrilling, as Ukrainian Dmytro Shevchuk went head-to-head with young Polish talent Stefan Orłowski. After an intense match with huge saves and great mashes, Shevchuk claimed the bronze in three sets.

The men's doubles category was no less tight. In the final Balazs Katz/Benjamin Patrik Toth (HUN) faced Szabolcs Ilyes (ROU)/Marek Pokwap (POL) and the Hungarian pair triumphed after three fierce sets. Shevchuk took once again the bronze medal as he and his compatriot, Oleh Usychenko took the victory against Stefan Orłowski/Konrad Nowicki (POL). The best home players were Foma Tirskij/Lukas Kojalavicius who finished 7th in doubles, while Kestutis Balciunas got the 9th place in singles.

"I am very excited with the results of the Lithuanian Teqball Open - 2nd stage and enjoyed competing with such talented players. I hope to come back to Vilnius for the next event, and I’m thrilled to have finally won the singles category for the first time," said Katz after his impressive performance.

On behalf of the Lithuanian Teqball Federation, organizers extended their gratitude to all participants and expressed their ambition to elevate the level of competition in upcoming rounds. Plans are already underway to add more categories, welcoming even more players from around the globe.
