The FITEQ has joined forces with CUPES, the Beijing Teqball Association (BTA) and the Beijing Olympic Development Association (BODA) to jointly establish the International Teqball Research Center (ITRC), which aims to improve, develop and promote the sport. will serve.
The ceremonial announcement took place in the CUPES gymnasium, in addition to Mr. Gabor Borsanyi, President of FITEQ and co-founder of Teqball along with General Secretary Mr. Laszlo Vajda represented FITEQ. After the protocol episodes of the event, Borsányi and Vajda played Teqball against the students on the table set up in the middle of the hall, and their good solutions were followed by standing ovations.
Ms. Zhang Xia, President of CUPES highlighted that the establishment of the International Teqball Research Centre marks a brand new stage of development for the university's research and practice on the highest level of Teqball. "Our university will seize the opportunity to actively introduce and draw on international advanced sports philosophy and technologies, and deepen cooperation with international organizations" she added.
Vajda, who is also a teaching professor at CUPES, said after the opening that he had wanted to start building the university line of Teqball for a long time, and that Teqball was first announced as an optional subject at the Beijing institution. The initial 10 places were immediately filled, so it was expanded to 20, and this year the course starts with 40 students. Additionally, Borsányi also noted in his speech that it could easily happen that the first Olympic champion of Teqball will emerge from within the walls of CUPES.
"BODA is always ready to popularise new sports in China and develop them together with the international federations. Teqball is a great example of our goals and we are glad to be part of FITEQ's future," emphasized Gao Yunchao, Deputy Director of BODA.
The agreement is about much more, and as the name of the newly created institution suggests: Teqball will be researched and developed. Vajda said "For the time being, no limits have been set on exactly what we would research, and being a young sport, almost anything can have results that can bring change. The rules may change flexibly however as the Secretary General of FITEQ highlighted, the opinion of the athletes and committees are always sought, because they do not want to introduce anything without proper discussions.
