The Inaugural EURO Teq Games in Piraeus celebrated unity and growth

Organised by EMCA the first EURO Teq Games were held in Greece with five clubs.

The European Multisport Club Association (EMCA) together with FITEQ created a new Teqball league for the association's clubs. Pireaus hosted the debuting EURO Teq Games with 22 athletes representing 5 clubs.

On October 19, the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus, Athens, came alive excitedly as it hosted the first-ever EURO Teq Games competition. This groundbreaking event, organized by Olympiacos, the well-known multisport club from Greece with support from the European Erasmus+ program and Teqball's governing body brought together young athletes, coaches, and referees from six European countries for a spirited day of Teqball competition. The tournament, enriched by the presence of teams like Lazio Teqball, Feyenoord, Levski Sofia, HASK Mladost, and Aalborg, symbolized the essence of international cooperation, youth engagement, and the shared passion for sports.

The atmosphere was electric as 22 athletes helped by six coaches competed across four categories: men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The referees not only officiated the matches but also played an integral role in guiding the young participants through the game’s nuances as part of the lead-up to the inaugural EURO Teq Games tournament, a specialized Teqball seminar was held on Friday, October 18, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus, aiming to equip coaches with advanced insights and second-level certifications in Teqball. Organized by Olympiacos’ amateur division under the Municipality of Piraeus, this workshop provided an invaluable learning opportunity, especially in a sport that is gaining international recognition. Led by experienced international FITEQ referees Marcia Anibal and Telmo Monteiro, the seminar attracted coaches from Greece and Erasmus+ partner countries, as well as students and staff from Mesagros High School in Aegina. Participants delved into core principles, strategies, and new coaching techniques, fostering a collaborative environment where coaches shared insights to elevate their training methods. Following the seminar, many coaches expressed excitement about applying the skills they gained, noting how the training would refine their approach and enhance their athletes’ performance. This successful workshop underscored the growing momentum of Teqball and the shared commitment to its development in Greece and across Europe.

For many athletes, this tournament marked their first taste of international competition, an exhilarating experience that showed the power of Teqball to bridge communities. Each match displayed remarkable skill and sportsmanship, with athletes embodying Teqball’s values of cooperation, solidarity, and fair play. The spirit of unity was further reflected in the coaches’ interactions, as they shared insights and exchanged techniques that emphasized the sport’s universal appeal and the potential for collaborative growth.

The tournament reached its peak during the final matches, where Lazio claimed victories in both the singles and doubles categories, while HASK Mladost celebrated a well-deserved win in the mixed doubles. The award ceremony, attended by representatives from local and international sports authorities and the Municipality of Piraeus, was a proud moment for the winners and participants alike.
