WTCH24 - Record numbers at the World Teqball Championships 2024
Ho Chi Minh City was awarded hosting rights for this year's World Teqball Championships, making it the second city outside Europe to stage the event.
The World Teqball Championships 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City is drawing a record number of players, at 221, and the second-highest number of participating countries, at 56. In addition, this year’s championship number of total matches is at 301. In addition to Australia and Oceania, every continent is represented.
A new record is also set as never that many female athletes 86 attended any Teqball events. Together with 135 male athletes, the players will face each other in five categories: women's & men's singles, women's & men's & mixed doubles. For the first time, instead of bronze medal matches, the two semi-finalists will automatically finish on the lowest tier of the podium.
WS: 42 players, MS: 52 players, WD 26 doubles, MD 45 doubles, XD 42 doubles
Europe sends the most nations with 24, Asia follows with 15. Africa will be represented by 11 countries, while Pan-America is at 6.
The biggest delegation is the Vietnamese with 9 athletes, while Germany and Malaysia both qualified 7 players.
The championships are being held entirely outdoors on the iconic Nguyen Hue Square between December 4th & 8th
The top two players will go through from the group stage to the knockout Stage.
The draw will take place at the Opening Press Conference on December 3.
