WR - Long time not seen firework just before the WTCH24
We are only a few days from the World Teqball Championships 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and the upcoming FITEQ World Ranking heavily affects the draw which will be held on December 3 at the press conference.
In 2024 as the new World Ranking policies influence not only the international events but the domestic ones too, players can collect WR points even on the Tier V. tournaments. On the other hand, with the currently implemented categorisation, the three rendez-vous held in November provided a great opportunity to gather points while the points of FITEQ's brand new tournament, the Challenger Teqball League finished in Badalona, Spain.
While the gathered points of the World Teqball Championships 2022 in Nuremberg are not eligible anymore, the Regional Tour 24 - Stage 4 - Castello Branco as well as the Challenger Teqball League Szekelyudvarhely GOBEK CUP and the Challenger Teqball League Badalona Cup provided options for Teqball athletes to gather more points just before the start of WTCH24.
The 'Queen of Teqball' title's points are not counted anymore, thus Caroly Greco (USA) dropped back by 5 places to the 7th. While Teqball's first world champion of women's singles, Anna Izsak (HUN) still leads, the European Champion and world bronze medallist Kinga Barabasi owns the second spot. The Romanian, together with Izsak and last year's title holder, Raffaela Fontes Gimenez (BRA) and runner-up of 2023, Jutatip Kuntatong are considered the main favourites of the category in Ho Chi Minh. There is a new name in the Top 10 as Agnieszka Rybicka (POL) reached this part of the WR for the first time in her career.
World and European champion Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU) is on the top of men's singles with a huge point difference however, the record-champion, Adam Blazsovics (HUN) took over the current 'King of Teqball', Adrian Duszak (POL). While the Polish fans may be sad because of the former news, their young talent, Marek Pokwap allows them to be happy as he is now the 4th after Hugo Rabeux (FRA) dropped back by one place. The winner of Castelo Branco, Dmytro Shevchuk is the top riser, but many athletes gained advantage of the two CTLs events and grew like Arnold Szilagyi (ROU) who finished fifth in Odorheiu Secuesc and moved ahead 9 places on the WR.
We have a new leader in women's doubles after the two-time world and long-time WR leader champion Zsanett Janicsek (HUN) dropped back to the 11th. The new 'first' is another Hungarian, Gabriella Kota and her compatriot follows, Petra Pechy who finished on the top in Badalona. The undefeated Thai duo, Kuntatong and Suphawadi Wongkhamchan are the third with the same amount of points as the world champions always compete only together. Greco also dropped back by a significant margin (-7) and the winner of 2022 together with Janicsek, Lea Vasas is now outside of the top 10 (12th). Ana Marques (POR) leapt the biggest by 22 places to 43rd after her victory in Portugal and fifth place in Spain.
In men's doubles, Gyorgydeak took over Blazsovics for the fifth position while Phakpong Dejaroen (THA) changed position with the two-time world champion Adam Bako (HUN). The rest of the changes are mostly because of the point losses of the WTCH22.
Kota is now the 6th in mixed doubles while the world champions of 2022, Bako and Vasas dropped back heavily. The silver medal in Badalona meant the 12th position for Pechy, while the category's three-time runners-up, Vania Moraes da Cruz & Leonardo Lindoso de Almeida despite their medal collections also stepped back due to the lack of competition.
The FITEQ World Ranking list is refreshed after each month when the gained points will be added while the credits that came later than two years will be taken away.
