WTCH24 - The world champs kicks off with unique matches

Nail-biting matches highlight the first day of the World Teqball Championships 2024.

Finally, it is time! The World Teqball Championships 2024 kicks off on Wednesday with the men’s singles competition with all the contenders making their debut. And by the end of the day, only eight of them will remain standing.

The official draw was conducted at the end of the press conference, and the 49 contestants were seeded into 15 groups of 3 (A to O) and one group of 4 (P) with the top 2 players advancing to the elimination phase, starting with the Round of 32.

We have not begun yet but there are already some matchups in the group stage that we cannot wait to happen. Do not look further than the opening match between 2022 world champ and 2023 European champ Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU) and last year’s silver medallist in doubles, Matheus Ferraz (BRA), this bout in Group A can set the tone for the whole tournament. The title holder, Adrian Duszak (POL) starts with Chedrac Alban Ahomadi from Benin also at 10 AM.

If you are looking for more seems-to-be-tight clashes, we recommend the one between Gor Sargsyan (ARM) and Victor Oyemade (NGR) in Group I, or the one that features two youngsters (Stoycho Zhekov from Bulgaria and Alexander Hamm from Austria) in Group J, then Baptiste Berna (POR) against Gregory Dylan Tchami Djomaha (CMR) in Group L, or Vinit Jain (IND) versus Mathias Landen Jeppesen (DEN) in Group N.

Also, the only quartet with Kirill Zemskov (RTA), Nilson Fernando Castaneda Vargas (COL), Dennis Correia (USA) and home hero Huy Do Bao (who is incredibly honoured to represent Vietnam) can be anybody to take and it is impossible to predict who will move on to the next round.

It is going to be a busy day as the program starts at 10:00 AM (local) and lasts until 7:30 PM when the official opening ceremony will take place. The quarterfinals, the semifinals and the final of this category will be held on Saturday.

Can’t wait for you to join us and follow the actions live on TEQ TV.
