WR - Orlowski shakes up the FITEQ WR with his domination in January

The WR points of two events are out while the season-starter in Pécs changes the picture in multiple categories.

As the year 2025 rolls around and competitions once again start to spice up the Teqball communities around the globe, the FITEQ World Rankings were not left unaffected, as the points accumulated from the European Teqball Tour – Skopje and USA Teqball Tour – Los Angeles were deducted. The 2025 calendar year kicked off with the Pecs PSN Teqball Tournament, ultimately leading to WR points for several Hungarian competitors.

The “Queen of Teqball” Jutatip Kuntatong (THA) continues to comfortably sit on her throne as the FITEQ WR 1 in women’s singles after championing Raffaela Fontes Gimenez (BR) in Ho Chi Minh City last December. The top 5 saw no changes, but Zsanett Janicsek (HUN) plummeted to 12th place, causing a restructuring of positions 7-12, with everyone moving up one spot. Her fellow countrywomen were not safe from the fall either, as Boglarka Nagy lost 22 and Gabriella Kota lost 34 places. Among the biggest risers are Quimcy Dsouza (IND), Manuela Parente (POR), and Daria Zelenska (UKR), each gaining six positions. The ranking saw a drastic reshuffling with nine individual fallers causing 32 positions gained by players in the top 50.

As Apor Gyorgydeak finished 2024 on top by staying unbeaten in the men’s singles, he continues to dominate the competition, cementing himself as the undisputed WR 1 most probably for a very long time considering the gap between him and the "King of Teqball" in 2023, Adrian Duszak (POL). A couple of rearrangements took place in the top 20, with Patryk Kaminski (POL) and Balazs Katz (HUN) dropping four and one place, respectively. The biggest beneficiaries of the Pecs PSN Teqball Tournament – the first one in 2025 – were Gergo Varga (HUN) and the Polish prodigy, Stefan Orlowski, with the Hungarian achieving 42nd place with a semi-final appearance, while the Polish player cracked the top 50 by winning the whole tournament. Moreover, Csaba Banyik (HUN) dropped 43 places, now ranking 75th in the FITEQ World Rankings.

The Thai partnership of Suphawadi Wonghamchan/Jutatip Kuntatong remains on top of the women’s doubles, with the only change in the top being Kinga Barabasi (ROU) and Carolyn Greco (USA) trading the 9th and 10th spots. Maria Chedid (LBN) jumped to 20th place, achieving her joint-best position since November 2024. Mara D’Alessandro (ITA) gained four places, alongside Samah Shakir Abed (IRQ), who both find themselves in the FITEQ World Rankings top 50 for the first time in their careers.

When it comes to men’s doubles, the Hungarian duo of Csaba Banyik/Balazs Katz seem untouchable for the time being, with over 11,000 points accumulated. The category's world champs, the tandem of Jirati Chanliang/Sorrasark Thaosiri (THA) continues to move up the rankings, with the former achieving 4th and the latter 5th place, which is the highest spot for both players so far. The biggest casualties of the Thai triumph were Bogdan Marojevic (SRB) and Apor Gyorgydeak (ROU), who dropped to 6th and 7th place, respectively. Phakpong Dejaroen and Adam Blazsovics also switched places as the 8th and 9th best men’s doubles players. Csabi Milan (HUN), who won the men’s doubles at the Pecs PSN Teqball Tournament with the 15-year-old Stefan Orlowski (POL), entered the top 50 after a highly successful start to the year. His Polish partner earned himself a 19-rank surge, securing 84th place on the FITEQ World Rankings.

In the category of mixed doubles, the Hungarian pair of Csaba Banyik (HUN) and Krisztina Acs (HUN) remain on top, with the Thai title holders Phakpong Dejaroen and Suphawadi Wongkhamchan closely following them in joint 3rd. The three-time World silver medallist, Leonardo Lindoso de Almeida (BRA) caught up to his partner Vania Moraes da Cruz, and they are now tied for 9th place. Leonardo Santana (BRA) suffered the biggest loss, dropping 7 places, while Martin Csereklye (HUN) and Zsanett Janicsek (HUN) gained 3 positions each, marking the biggest rise in the FITEQ World Rankings top 50 in the last month.

The season of 2025 resumes on February 14th in Pécs with multiple events to provide a platform for grassroots talents while the créme de la créme will also compete as FITEQ's new competition structure establishes Tier IV. Challenger Teqball League – Pecs PSN and the Tier VI. Teqball Cup – Pecs PSN.
