Teqball goes to school in Portugal

Teqball to inspire young minds through sport in Portugal, a new project started.

The 'Teqball Goes to School' project is bringing excitement, energy, and valuable life skills to hundreds of children in Santarém Portugal. Led by Rui Leitão, FITEQ Executive Board Member, this initiative is not just about introducing a fast-growing sport—it’s about fostering teamwork, concentration, and physical development in a fun and engaging way.

The enthusiasm surrounding Teqball in schools is contagious. As children engage in dynamic, skill-building activities, their coordination, agility, and strategic thinking improve naturally. More than just a sport, Teqball provides a platform for young minds to develop essential social and cognitive skills, from teamwork to problem-solving.

Adriana Fernandes, head of Benfica Ativo—a partner organization of Caixeiros Teqball—has witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of the project:

“Practicing this sport with our children has not only provided fun moments but has also contributed to their development, preparing them for future challenges.”

Throughout March and April, the 'Teqball Goes to School' project will engage around 600 children, aged six to twelve, across four schools in Santarém. Designed with age-appropriate games and activities, the program ensures that every child benefits—whether by improving motor skills, enhancing concentration, or simply enjoying active social interaction.

Rui Leitão emphasizes that while the program introduces children to Teqball, the focus is broader than competitive sports:

“At this young age, our goal is not necessarily to recruit new Teqball athletes. Instead, we aim to provide moments of joy, social connection, and personal growth, reinforcing the positive impact of sport in our community.”

As a Caixeiros Teqball initiative, 'Teqball Goes to School' strengthens the club’s connection with local schools and families. It reflects a commitment to giving back to the community, promoting inclusivity in sports, and ensuring that children of all backgrounds have access to a fun and enriching athletic experience.

Under the leadership of Rui Leitão, Teqball is not only flourishing as a competitive sport in Portugal but also making a lasting impact on the next generation. By investing in grassroots programs like this, the sport continues to expand its reach, proving that Teqball is much more than a game—it’s a tool for education, connection, and community building.
